MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector) (14:26):</by> I thank the honourable member for her question. As I said before, I don't know all the circumstances that were before the court in relation to this case. But it is true that one element of sentencing and of the sentences that we as a parliament decide are appropriate for a particular crime is as a deterrent effect, to deter those from doing it in the future. As I said, I'm not privy to all the circumstances that led to the sentence in this case.</text>
