        <inserted>1.&amp;#x9;Notes that the study of law, politics and government plays an integral role in building community understanding and appreciation of democracy.</inserted>

        <inserted>2.&amp;#x9;Acknowledges that senior research and teaching staff in university departments are vital to ensure sufficient capacity to:</inserted>

          <inserted>(a)&amp;#x9;supervise PhD students;</inserted>
        </item>
      </text>

          <inserted>(c)&amp;#x9;maintain expertise in the relevant field.</inserted>

        <inserted>3.&amp;#x9;Notes that Flinders University currently has a business case proposal to restructure teaching and research staff within the government discipline.</inserted>
      </text>

        <inserted>4.&amp;#x9;Recognises that the proposed restructure:</inserted>
      </text>
      <text id="202302089b89fd2635214298a0000574">
        <item sublevel="2">
          <inserted>(a)&amp;#x9;reduces the number of staff able to supervise PhD students; and</inserted>
        </item>
      </text>

        <item sublevel="2">
          <inserted>(b)&amp;#x9;increases the number of junior teaching specialist academics.</inserted>
        </item>
      </text>

        <inserted>5.&amp;#x9;Calls on Flinders University to reconsider proposed changes to teaching and research staff within the College of Business, Government and Law to ensure no decrease in the capacity, capability and expertise.</inserted>
