MAHER (Attorney-General, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector) (15:06):</by> I thank the honourable member for his question. I will double-check that but from memory Dr Thomas's appointment as the Commissioner for Aboriginal Engagement under the former government expired on 30 June. I don't know what the former government talked to Dr Thomas about and whether he would go on any further after that. But my understanding, and if I'm wrong I will bring back a reply, is that the six-month extension—as I said, I am grateful that Dr Thomas has agreed to help the new government start with our policy agenda—would then expire at the end of December. But I will double-check that and if I need to clarify I will.</text>
