WADE (Minister for Health and Wellbeing) (14:59): As I have already indicated, the CCTV pilot project was subject to an open tender. This is a pilot that we are proud of. This government, in the shadow of Oakden and in the context of the commonwealth aged-care royal commission, has been pursuing an Australian-first trial of surveillance and monitoring systems in aged-care facilities. We are very keen to test the acceptability of audiovisual monitoring amongst residents and families to see what opportunities there are to improve safety and care and to reduce adverse events. We went out to an open tender process. We took the best offer on the table through an evaluation process. We cannot be held accountable for people who didn't put their bid on the table.
