Can the minister please inform the chamber how many tenants have been given notice so far, and how long before are they given notice of these rent increases occurring?</text>

J.M.A. LENSINK (Minister for Human Services) (14:23):</by>  In relation to the cottage flats, on 5 September letters were sent to affected public housing tenants. These increases will occur in stages of 1.5 per cent, or 1 per cent over three years, until they reach 25 per cent of assessable income, which is identical to all other existing tenants. The first stage, a 1.5 per cent increase, took effect from 17 November, affecting approximately 3,000 households.</text>
