WADE (Minister for Health and Wellbeing) (15:16): All South Australian health staff are expected to comply with their public sector duties. It is an interesting issue. There is an awareness in government that there isn't a high enough awareness within our public sector of the operation, if you like, of the probity frameworks, such as ICAC, the OPI, and other organs that are designed to help maintain the ethical health of the public sector. I appreciate that the Office for Public Integrity actively has an education program, but certainly we can and we will do more within SA Health to make people aware of, first of all, the issues. People need to understand issues like conflict of interest. They need to understand their public sector duties generally in terms of ethics, let alone in relation to behaviour that might be corruption. I expect all staff to follow their legislative duties and in that regard SA Health will continue to try to raise general awareness within our workforce.
