          <by role="member" id="4697">The Hon. K.J. MAHER:</by>  An SBS news article dated 25 May 2018 reports, in reference to remote Aboriginal housing, that:</text>

          <inserted>While Minister Scullion said he's confident a deal with both Western Australia and South Australia will be signed in coming week—</inserted>

          <inserted>he called his negotiations with Queensland problematic and challenging.</inserted>
        </text>
        <text continued="true" id="201805308442caf06aca4236b0000019">Further to this, in question time in this place on 9 May 2018, the Minister for Human Services said that negotiations regarding the NPARIH agreement were happening at a Treasurer to Treasurer level. I think the exact quote from <term>Hansard</term> on 9 May was, 'Those have been taking place at a Treasurer to Treasurer level'. My questions to the Minister for Human Services are:</text>

        <text id="201805308442caf06aca4236b0000021">2.&amp;#x9;As the responsible minister, has she now satisfied herself that these discussions are in fact on track and a decision is imminent?</text>
        <text id="201805308442caf06aca4236b0000022">3.&amp;#x9;What formal advice has the minister sought and received on the NPARIH negotiations and agreement?</text>

The responses that I made at the time stand. The negotiations are ongoing. I am not going to be in the practice, when negotiations are taking place between the South Australian and the commonwealth government, of giving an ongoing commentary about where they are at, but I am confident that our government is doing everything it can in the best interests of this agreement for South Australians and I look forward to some announcement in due course.</text>
