DARLEY (15:28): I seek leave to make a brief explanation before asking the Minister for Employment, representing the Treasurer, questions regarding the Valuer-General. Leave granted. The Hon. J.A. DARLEY Legislative Council The Hon. J.A. DARLEY: I understand that, prior to this year, the Valuer-General was located in the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure even though the Valuer-General is an independent statutory officer. I understand that, this year, the Valuer-General has transferred to the Treasury portfolio; however, matters and inquiries which fall under the Valuation of Land Act are still directed to DPTI and the relevant minister. My questions are: 1.	Can the minister provide the reason for the move? 2.	Can the minister give details of what matters will be dealt with under DPTI and which matters fall under the Treasury portfolio? 3.	Given the Valuer-General is an independent statutory officer who is responsible for the administration of the Valuation of Land Act, can the minister advise why matters directly relating to valuations are delayed by having to be referred through the Minister for Transport or the Treasurer?
