          <inserted>1—Amendment of section 14—How to have the birth of a child registered</inserted>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="2">
            <inserted>Section 14—-after its present contents (now to be designated as subsection (1)) insert:</inserted>
          </item>

          <item sublevel="2">
            <inserted>(2)&amp;#x9;The birth registration statement must include particulars of the identity (if known) of the biological parents of the child.</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20160211e798caffdbb3410ca0000981">
          <item sublevel="2">
            <inserted>(3)&amp;#x9;The fact that a person is described as a biological parent of a child in a birth registration statement in accordance with subsection (2), or in an entry about the birth in the Register—</inserted>
          </item>

          <item sublevel="3">
            <inserted>(a)&amp;#x9;does not constitute an acknowledgement of parentage for the purposes of the <term>Family Relationships Act 1975</term> or any other law; and</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20160211e798caffdbb3410ca0000983">
          <item sublevel="3">
            <inserted>(b)&amp;#x9;does not otherwise operate to make that person the mother or father of the child for the purposes of any other law.</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="2">
            <inserted>(4)&amp;#x9;In this section—</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20160211e798caffdbb3410ca0000985">
          <item sublevel="3">
            <inserted>
              <term>biological parents</term>, in relation to the birth of a child, means—</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20160211e798caffdbb3410ca0000986">
          <item sublevel="3">
            <inserted>(a)&amp;#x9;the person who provided semen resulting in the birth; and</inserted>
          </item>

            <inserted>(b)&amp;#x9;the person who provided the ovum resulting in the birth.</inserted>
          </item>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="2">
            <inserted>(5)&amp;#x9;Subsections (2), (3) and (4) expire on the day on which the donor conception register is established under section 15 of the <term>Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 1988</term>.</inserted>
