The Character Preservation Bills for the McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley do not prohibit mining in the character districts. Clause 7 of the respective Bills do however provide that a person or body involved in the administration of an Act, including the Mining Act 1971, must, in exercising powers and functions in relation to the districts, act consistently with and seek to further the objects of the Act(s).
