Given that, if I hear correctly, there are some 1,000 houses currently untenanted and that the majority of those are undergoing what I think the minister termed minor modification before reallocation, would the minister consider making them available to people with disabilities to clear the category 1 waiting list for accommodation?</text>

Those houses would be waiting to be tenanted; they may be undergoing refurbishment, they may be waiting for large redevelopment, they may be going up for sale. To make them available for people with disabilities I imagine would require a large amount of upgrades and changes to the stock to allow, for example, for wider corridors or wider doors and ramps to allow people to use wheelchairs, or other alterations to make them safe and useable for people with disabilities.</text>
