I.K. HUNTER (Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion, Minister for Social Housing, Minister for Disabilities, Minister for Youth, Minister for Volunteers): In December 2011, the Government provided its initial response to the Report, accepting almost half of the recommendations for immediate action. Our embracing of individualised funding approaches recommended in the Report represents a fundamental shift in disability support policy, providing greater choice and opportunity for those with a disability and preparing us for implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The Government will respond to the remaining recommendations in 2012.
