G.E. GAGO (Minister for State/Local Government Relations, Minister for the Status of Women, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Minister for Government Enterprises, Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Energy): The Minister for Transport has advised: 1.	The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) is currently considering road train access between the Victorian border to Paringa with a Riverland transport operator. DTEI officers are consulting closely with Vic Roads on this matter. 2.	DTEI is currently working with a well-established transport operator in the Riverland to explore the possibility of road train access from the South Australia/Victoria border to a break-up point prior to the Paringa Bridge to assist the transport task. Road train access is also being considered from the existing road train route at Burra to a break-up point north of Berri. Under the Heavy Vehicle Access Framework, DTEI is negotiating with Vic Roads, transport companies and the local councils to maximise the use of these high efficiency combinations, such as road trains, in this region. 3.	The Australian Logistics Council commissioned a report into cross border transport issues and a Multi State Cross Border Task Force has since been set up to identify future issues and ensure full consultation is achieved with all stakeholders.
