PICTON (Kaurna—Minister for Health and Wellbeing): I have been advised: Deaths occurring in the public health system which are reported to the Coroner are those deaths which meet one of the criteria of a 'reportable death' as outlined in the Coroners Act 2003 (SA). Local Health Network staff notifying the Coroner of these 'reportable deaths' are meeting their legislative requirements, but it should be noted that most deaths reported to the Coroner by local health networks do not result in a coronial investigation. Further information regarding coronial notifications would be best referred to the Coroner.
