          <inserted>The commission is in the final stages of completing its inquiry into a proposal it received from a member of the public to change the council boundary near Tickera, between the District Council of Barunga West Council and the Copper Coast Council. The commission determined to inquire into this proposal as an 'administrative proposal' under section 30 of the Local Government Act 1999 (the act).</inserted>

          <inserted>In accordance with subsection 30(3) of the act, the commission consulted with me as the Minister for Local Government on this proposal, including the commission's recommendations in relation to it. The commission was advised that I had no comments on the matter or on the commission's proposed recommendations.</inserted>

          <inserted>The commission is now finalising its report on the proposal so that it can publish this report on its website and provide a copy to me in accordance with subsection 30(4) of the act. As the Minister for Local Government, I will then determine under subsection 30(6) of the act whether the proposal will proceed or not proceed.</inserted>

          <inserted>If I determine that the proposal is to proceed, it will be forwarded to the Governor with a recommendation that a proclamation be made to implement the proposal. If I determine that the proposal is not to proceed, then no further action will be taken. </inserted>

          <inserted>When the commission has received notification of my decision on the proposal, it will notify the person who referred the proposal to the commission, the affected councils, and any registered industrial associations that represent the interests of employees of councils of my determination in accordance with section 32 of the act. </inserted>
