MALINAUSKAS (Croydon—Premier) (14:28): We are a government that is absolutely well aware of the challenges associated with Brighton Road. It is hardly for me to speak about Brighton Road as much as the member for Gibson, who uses Brighton Road on an almost daily basis; this is very much a key component of the member for Gibson's community. We heard very loud representations in the lead-up to the state election about just how much this issue needs to be addressed. There is no-one in the seat of Gibson or in the surrounding community who doesn't want to see less traffic on Brighton Road, and we are absolutely committed to ensuring we do something about it. The Majors Road on/off ramp serves as a very serious investment to help relieve that burden on Brighton Road. It is one that, as I have stated previously, not only do we support but indeed the Leader of the Opposition used to support himself. He has decided to go down the low road of opposing a project that he once— Mr GARDNER House of Assembly Mr GARDNER: Point of order: standing order 98.
