TARZIA (Hartley—Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services): I have been advised: There are a number of variables that have likely impacted on the rise in reports and complaints, including, but not limited to the: increase in the workforce over that same period; changes in the prisoner / offender population over that same period; introduction of direct access to the Office for Public Integrity under the common access numbers on the prisoner telephone system; advancements in the reporting processes between agencies; introduction of policy and procedure highlighting corruption prevention strategies; and advancements in the training of staff regarding their obligations under the Correctional Services Act 1982 (SA).
