          <inserted>The Capital Works Program Governance Committee is comprised of senior officers from the Department for Education and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. Given the joint departmental responsibilities for the delivery of the program, the Chief Executive of the Department for Education, Mr Rick Persse, determined that it would be of benefit to appoint an independent chair.</inserted>

          <inserted>Mr Persse considered a number of candidates for the role of the independent chair of the Capital Works Program Governance Committee.</inserted>

          <inserted>Mr Persse spoke to the Hon Dr Dean Brown AO on 17 June 2020 in relation to the Capital Works Program and the role of the independent chair. Dr Brown subsequently accepted the role and entered into a Standard Goods and Services Agreement, signed by the chief operating officer of the Department for Education as a duly authorised officer.</inserted>

          <inserted>The role of the governance committee is to provide investment assurance and strategic governance of the Capital Works Program. It provides assurance that the program is delivered as per the agreed parameters.</inserted>
        </text>

          <inserted>A fortnightly report is provided to the chief executive following each governance committee meeting.</inserted>
