<inserted>The ABS has indicated to DTF that the 41.0 per cent fall in state and local general government expenditure reflects a return following a large abnormal increase in general government expenditure in the previous (December) quarter, relating to the transfer of assets from the public non-financial corporation sector (Renewal SA) to the general government sector (TAFE SA), as highlighted in the 2019-20 state budget (Budget Paper 3: Budget Statement, page 34). These assets had been leased by TAFE SA and owned by Renewal SA. On 1 October 2019 TAFE SA purchased these assets from Renewal SA. The purchase of these assets by TAFE SA increased investing expenditure in the general government sector by $601 million in 2019-20.</inserted>
