          <inserted>In 2012, the police regulations 1999 was the legislative authority to dispose of exhibit property. Regulation 57 states that if property is no longer required for use in connection with any legal proceedings or official investigations the property can be released.</inserted>

          <inserted>Items that were released in 2012 were items taken from the home address of Dr George Duncan in 1972 and it is believed they were not considered to be of evidentiary value to the current investigation.</inserted>

          <inserted>In 2013 general order deaths and death in custody was amended to reflect property seized cannot be released until three months after the State Coroner has issued a finding as to the cause of death.</inserted>
