VAN HOLST PELLEKAAN (Stuart—Minister for Energy and Mining): The Minister for Health and Wellbeing has advised: The provisions that establish the Adult Safeguarding Unit will commence on 1 October 2019. Once operational, the unit will have powers under the act to investigate reports of actual or suspected elder abuse. Those powers had not commenced in 2018-19.
