CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Minister for Education and Child Development, Minister for Higher Education and Skills): The cause of mains failures which occurred in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs on 7 March 2016 has been investigated by SA Water. The investigation found that an operational issue at the Hope Valley water treatment plant caused a pressure surge in the water main and was the likely cause of the mains failures. The Essential Services Commission of South Australia (ESCOSA) and the Office of the Technical Regulator are also performing independent reviews of the recent water mains burst in Paradise.
