          <inserted>The number of employees on leave without pay from the department was 1,026. This represents less than 3 per cent of the total workforce. Employees on assignment/secondment to another SA Public Sector agency are not included. </inserted>

          <inserted>Employees take leave without pay for a number of reasons such as parenting leave (accouchement leave)/child rearing without pay, sick leave without pay, special leave without pay, work exchange, travel, personal reasons etc.</inserted>
