Will the minister advise the house as to when the road management plan will be acted upon to ensure the safety of residents of Blackwood and surrounding suburbs? A recent study by insurer AAMI has found Main Road, Blackwood to be the fifth most dangerous road in Adelaide. The Hon. S.C. MULLIGHAN (Lee—Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Minister Assisting the Minister for Planning, Minister Assisting the Minister for Housing and Urban Development) (14:26): The issue of the road management plan for this particular area that the member for Davenport refers to was the subject of some debate in the lead-up to the last by-election that we had for Davenport. Indeed, it was claimed by the Leader of the Opposition that, unless the government duplicated parts of the road network leading from the metropolitan area up the hills face up towards that area, people were being put in danger from bushfires—reprehensible advice, which of course cuts across and is in conflict with the advice that we get from our police and emergency services on fire danger days. Be that as it may, the road management plan, which did not seek to address those issues which the Leader of the Opposition was erroneously claiming during the Davenport by-election, is factored into all of the transport needs and improvements that we have. We will allocate our transport budget to meet the needs of roads according to priority. Those roadworks, as well as other roadworks around the state, will be prioritised in the usual way.
