        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000274">1.&amp;#x9;Does the APY Land Rights Act require that the minister must approve the person selected by the Executive to be the General Manager of APY, as opposed to approving the terms and conditions of the employment of the person selected by the Executive and if so, what are the specific provisions of the APY Land Rights Act which confers that power on the Minister?</text>

          <by role="member" id="3117">The Hon. L.W.K. BIGNELL (Mawson—Minister for Tourism, Minister for Recreation and Sport):</by>  The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation has received this advice:</text>
        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000278">1.&amp;#x9;The <term>Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Land Rights Act 1981</term> states that:</text>

        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000280">The General Manager will be appointed by the Executive Board.</text>
        <text continued="true" id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000281">Section 13D (4)</text>
        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000282">The General Manager will be appointed on conditions (including conditions as to remuneration) determined by the Executive Board with the approval of the Minister and for a term specified in the instrument of appointment and, at the expiration of a term of appointment, is eligible for reappointment.</text>

        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000284">The Minister must determine to approve, or not approve the conditions of appointment within 28 days after receiving the conditions, and may, in determining whether to approve the conditions, take into consideration any matter the Minister thinks fit.</text>
        <text id="2013112671a6686087f24632b0000285">2.&amp;#x9;As a matter of courtesy, the APY Executive Board keeps the Minister's office informed when a selection process is underway for the position of General Manager, APY.</text>
