          <by role="member" id="535">The Hon. J.D. HILL (Kaurna—Minister for Health and Ageing, Minister for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Minister for the Arts):</by>  I am advised:</text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000352">Formal negotiations for a new Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement commenced on 24 May 2011. The parties are still having extensive discussions to reach agreement.</text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000353">On 12 October 2011, an offer was made to the South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association. The package included a salary offer of:</text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000354">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Annual salary increases of 2.5 per cent per annum, operative on the first full pay period on or after 14 April in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014; </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000355">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Conditional on reaching agreement, an additional salary increase of 0.5 per cent to apply following approval by the Industrial Relations Commission of South Australia; and </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000356">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">0.5 per cent operative on the first full pay period on or after each 12-month anniversary of the date of approval. </item>
        </text>
        <text continued="true" id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000357">This provides for a compounded salary outcome over the life of the proposed Agreement of 12.61 per cent. It should be noted that the offer has not yet been agreed between the parties.</text>
        <text id="20120918f710bedbdc0b4b2980000358">Negotiations for a new nursing and midwifery enterprise agreement are to commence no later than January 2013.</text>
