          <by role="member" id="535">The Hon. J.D. HILL (Kaurna—Minister for Health and Ageing, Minister for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Minister for the Arts):</by>  I am advised that:</text>

        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000978">1.&amp;#x9;Ten objectives have been set as the Terms of Reference for Dr Alexandre Kalache’s residency with the Adelaide Thinkers in Residence Program. The objectives have been developed through collaboration between the Adelaide Thinkers in Residence’s Office, Dr Kalache and residency partners.  </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000979">The overarching purpose of Dr Kalache’s residency is to develop strategies that allow a greater number of older South Australians to maintain their independence and participate in life as connected members of their communities. Dr Kalache’s Terms of Reference are:</text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000980">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">deepen the commitment to the global movement on Age Friendly Cities and identify how South Australia can incorporate this concept into planning and action across all sectors of society;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000981">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">design an age-friendly prototype for communities throughout South Australia;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000982">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">forge close links with other States and cities to enable the exchange of models of good practice;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000983">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">challenge and change perceptions and attitudes to having an ageing society and create greater understanding of the positive contributions of older people to South Australia;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000984">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">work across sectors and with key partners to support policies, plans and strategies that promote healthy ageing, supportive environments and positive community attitudes for current and future generations of older people;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000985">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">advise on a person-centred care approach for older people in their interactions with health services focusing on recovery and restoration of function and capacity;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000986">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">increase knowledge, understanding and awareness of the needs of older South Australians in particular older Australians with migrant and/ or refugee backgrounds;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000987">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">engage younger generations in the effort of building a ‘society for all ages’ committed to intergenerational solidarity;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000988">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">strengthen research opportunities related to Active Ageing and Age Friendly concepts;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000989">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">explore opportunities to project Adelaide and South Australia as an international centre of reference for active ageing policies.</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000990">2.&amp;#x9;The Department for Communities &amp; Social Inclusion and the Department for Health &amp; Ageing are the only State Government departments funding Dr Kalache’s residency. Other funding has been provided by Local Government and not-for-profit organisations.</text>
        <text id="20120215e9404eba0ebf454db0000991">The Department of the Premier and Cabinet are the custodians of the Thinker in Residence program and cover secretariat costs.'</text>
