KOUTSANTONIS (West Torrens—Minister for Manufacturing, Innovation and Trade, Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy, Minister for Small Business):</by>  I am advised that the Small Business Statement was released in October 2009 with the endorsement of the Business Development Council. The objective of the Statement was to outline the activities the Government has put in place to foster a successful small business climate.</text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000298">It encapsulates the State Government's commitment to providing the most supportive business environment in Australia, in which small business may grow and prosper.</text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000299">The Statement includes initiatives taken by the Government to improve the environment in which small businesses operate. These include:</text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000300">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Further reduction of government red tape;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000301">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Reduced business costs and State Government taxes, including payroll tax;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000302">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Building capacity through workforce development and skills training;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000303">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Offering targeted services that support specific needs;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000304">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Providing a 'voice' for small business in developing Government policy;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000305">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Fostering innovation and creativity; and</item>
        </text>
        <text id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000306">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Increasing export capacity.</item>
        </text>
        <text continued="true" id="201202143d0f4bc1d78d431ba0000307">Under this government, taxes will have been reduced by an estimated $4.6 billion on a cumulative basis by 2013-14 despite the negative revenue impacts of the Global Financial Crisis.</text>
