        <text id="201110184183722d3bfc47d3b0000826">Flooding of the Cooper Creek is a relatively rare event, the last time it cut the Birdsville track was in 1991. When flood waters subsided in January 2011 and the ferry ceased operation, the Department commenced work to extend the ferry and increase its carrying capacity in readiness for the next time it may be needed to cross the Cooper Creek.</text>
