Is the minister aware that five surveys were commissioned by his department between May 2006 and December 2009 into the community understanding and attitudes towards the establishment of marine parks, and is he also aware that the latest of those reports states, 'There has been a constant and slow decrease in those who understand the term "marine park".' CAICA (Colton—Minister for Environment and Conservation, Minister for the River Murray, Minister for Water) (14:56): I am aware of the surveys that were undertaken over an extended period of time, that is, to gauge the level of understanding of marine parks. I do understand also that—and I am not quite sure that it is completely accurate, but I will answer the question as best I can. When I say 'completely accurate', I mean the way in which the question was phrased by the deputy leader as not being completely accurate. Mr Williams interjecting: The Hon. P. CAICA: They have asked the question—let me answer, for God's sake. Quite simply, I am aware of that, and I question the level of understanding, certainly, that marine parks were going to exist. But, Madam Speaker, it is simply this: I would expect that that level of understanding would have deteriorated based on the misinformation that is being promulgated by the opposition.
