<by role="member" id="1804">Ms CHAPMAN:</by> I indicate that the opposition welcomes these amendments after fiery debate in this house about the importance of having the DPP as the gatekeeper for these applications. I see that the wisdom of the other place has prevailed, and it has presented to us almost exactly those amendments. There appears to be one variation; that is, the Crown Solicitor can still have some role in the process, but the DPP gets the first chop. The opposition welcomes this and appreciates the wise consideration by persons in another place.</text>
