As there is only three minutes of this private members' session to go, I will not hold the house long, as a courtesy to the member for Mitchell. The opposition supports this bill, which effectively means that there is no automatic parole for those people sentenced to less than five years' imprisonment for violent offences. The opposition thinks that is a good message to send to the community; that is, there should not be parole for people in those circumstances.
