FOLEY (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Federal/State Relations): I have been provided the following information: The web-based portal project is being led by the Department of Trade and Economic Development. Development of the portal involves undertaking a sequence of demand, technical, feasibility and implementation studies over various stages. Stage one of the project is being undertaken this financial year and has a budget of $15,000. Subject to outcomes of stage one's concept plan and demand analysis, a more detailed technical analysis and feasibility of the proposed portal will be undertaken. Sophisticated spatial information tools have been developed in other jurisdictions including North America and are used principally to assist prospective businesses in selecting suitable sites for investment. Estimation of investment that could be generated by this tool will depend largely on the technical specifications and feasibility that are to be undertaken in stage 2. Importantly, the spatial information portal would serve to complement other marketing and investment attraction programs that are undertaken by government.
