MAYWALD (Chaffey—Minister for the River Murray, Minister for Water Security, Minister for Regional Development, Minister for Small Business, Minister Assisting the Minister for Industry and Trade):</by>  I am advised the Office for Water Security is being established as a division within the Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation (DWLBC) to consolidate and augment the strategic water policy capacity within the South Australian government.</text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000233">Staff Numbers</text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000234">Staff of the Office for Water Security (OWS) will total approximately 21 employees. These positions consist of:</text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000235">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Eight existing positions and associated funding from within DWLBC</item>
        </text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000236">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Three existing positions and associated funding from SA Water will be transferred to OWS.</item>
        </text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000237">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">All existing positions from DWLBC and SA Water are cost neutral and any transitional costs are being met from within existing agency budgets.</item>
        </text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000238">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Up to 10 new positions;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000239">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">Eight new water policy positions will be created;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000240">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">A new Commissioner for Water Security will be appointed; and</item>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">An administrative support position.</item>

        <text id="200804306966d31a36da44d980000243">The budget for the 10 new positions and associated costs is:</text>

        </text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">$1.517 million in 2008-09 increasing to;</item>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">$1.672 million in 2011-12 and ongoing.</item>
