CAICA (Colton—Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Minister for Science and Information Economy, Minister for Youth, Minister for Gambling):</by>  The State Government is fully committed to working with industry to address its skill needs. This is evidenced through the announcement, in 2006, of $98 million, over four years, for South Australia's Skills Statement: Building on Strong Foundations. Initiatives announced as part of this commitment, in support of the needs of the utilities sector, include:</text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">2,600 additional apprenticeships and traineeships;</item>
        </text>
        <text id="20080213f725671e11f144fa90000287">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">targeted pre-apprenticeship programs to areas of skill shortage;</item>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">industry cadetships in targeted sectors; and</item>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">the establishment of 10 Trade Schools for the Future.</item>

        <text id="20080213f725671e11f144fa90000290">Furthermore the State Government has provided funding for the Electrical, Electrotechnology, Energy and Water Industry Skills Board (EEEWSB) to:</text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">support the development and implementation of the Mature Workers New Career Prospects Model—to up-skill experienced workers are trainers so that the industry does not lose its expertise;</item>
        </text>

          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">implement an e-learning program for Year 11 and 12 students; and </item>
        </text>
        <text id="20080213f725671e11f144fa90000293">
          <item sublevel="1" bullet="true">establish a dual qualification in Water Operations to increase the supply of qualified industry-ready employees.</item>
