<by role="member" id="627">The SPEAKER: </by>I advise the house of the recent passing of Mr Aubrey Dodd, the former clerk of the House of Assembly. Mr Dodd served as Clerk Assistant and Serjeant at Arms from 1953 until 1972 when he was appointed Clerk of the House. He held the position of clerk until his resignation in 1979. As well as his service to this house, Mr Dodd served his country with honour as an aircraft navigator during World War II. Mr Dodd was the first Serjeant at Arms of the House of Assembly to carry the mace after it was acquired by the house in 1957. His term as clerk coincided with a period of considerable reform of the practice and procedures of the house, which resulted in significant change to the standing orders that have endured. I wish to place on record the house's condolences to his family and its appreciation of his long and meritorious service.</text>
