KENYON (Newland—Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing, Minister for Road Safety, Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Minister Assisting the Premier with South Australia's Strategic Plan, Minister Assisting the Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education):</by>  South Australia Police (SAPOL) has been conducting Operation Safe Passage (South Eastern Freeway) since the Education Phase started on 1 May 2011.</text>
        <text id="201107089f1dbd1bdc4846f5b0000152">The requirement for trucks to keep left and to observe the 60 km/h speed limit has been actively policed by SAPOL.</text>
        <text id="201107089f1dbd1bdc4846f5b0000153">As at 20 July 2011, SAPOL issued a total of 18 Cautions for trucks speeding above 60 km/h and 5 Cautions for trucks failing to keep left.</text>
        <text id="201107089f1dbd1bdc4846f5b0000154">There is also an existing law about the requirement for trucks to use low gear when descending that part of the hill. SAPOL has issued a total of 11 cautions for trucks failing·to use low gear.</text>
        <text id="201107089f1dbd1bdc4846f5b0000155">The general observations by SAPOL are that there is increased compliance by Heavy Vehicle operators.</text>
        <text id="201107089f1dbd1bdc4846f5b0000156">Operation Safe Passage and the education phase ended on 31 July 2011. As at 31 July 2011, SAPOL issued a total of 21 Cautions for trucks speeding above 60 km/h, 7 Cautions for trucks failing to keep left and at total of 20 cautions for trucks failing to use low gear.</text>
