O'BRIEN (Napier—Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Minister for Road Safety, Minister for Science and Information Economy):</by>  The Leave Recording System is audited by both the Auditor General and by DFEEST Internal Audit. </text>
        <text id="200907034e80ab5042c344cba0000117">DFEEST has policies and processes that govern the manner in which leave is applied for and approved. This includes sick leave.</text>
        <text id="200907034e80ab5042c344cba0000118">Workgroup Managers are responsible for ensuring that staff apply for leave of absence on those occasions where they are absent from the workplace.</text>
        <text id="200907034e80ab5042c344cba0000119">An employee makes an on-line application for sick leave through the Employee Self Service (ESS) system, as soon as they return to work from their absence. That application is approved by their manager and then forwarded to Shared Services SA Payroll for processing.</text>
        <text id="200907034e80ab5042c344cba0000120">Workgroup Managers are also responsible for ensuring that all leave details on the Bonafide Certificates are reconciled against a leave report from ESS and also reconciled to the timesheets. This happens on a fortnightly basis.</text>
