<by role="member" id="532">The Hon. K.O. FOLEY (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Federal/State Relations):</by> I have been provided the following information:</text>
<text id="20080704570cba27196445e2a0000221">The Motor Accident Commission's sole recovery provider is Australian Credit Management (ACM).</text>
<text id="20080704570cba27196445e2a0000222">The decision to select ACM in July 2006 was not made on the basis of cost savings or extra collections alone. Also considered was the improved service provision model, which will allow for additional collections to be made in the future as a result of better quality information.</text>
<text id="20080704570cba27196445e2a0000223">Recovery collections are a long-term process and the contract has only been in effect for 22 months. A full review of ACM's performance will be conducted later in this financial year. However, the MAC's Claims Manager reports the service provided by ACM has been an improvement on the previous debt collection service provider. In particular, the on-line services allow accounts to be electronically placed for collection, and comprehensive reporting can be now provided at any time.</text>
